Home is where your school is.

Since Lion still has one more year before he should be "officially" educated, I've decided to try my hand at homeschooling my little preschooler. If it all goes well I may *gasp* join the ranks of "those people." Heck, I'm a Christian stay-at-home-mom with three children and drive a minivan--what other stereotype could I fit? With a couple more weeks before we launch into full Pre-K curriculum, I'm gathering my encouragement and inspiration from wiser women who've gone before me (in their suburbans and economy vans). I couldn't be more excited--or more out of my mind--we'll see how it goes. Front porch lesson number one: math, social studies, and recess...

  2. Woohoo! Okay now you are really making me feel guilty that I have not started doing ANYthing with Ellie yet. What's my problem? Aren't I a teacher by trade? I've got to get my tail in gear! Any curriculum suggestions?

  3. Oh I'm so glad I could make you feel guilty and feel less of a mother then you are! ;) Don't think I'm on top of anything--I'm just talking about doing it! But www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com gave me more than enough inspiration than I can handle! And I got my curriculum from her (a download or a $10 CD that she sends). Todd helped me print out all of the worksheets and the great 35 week lesson plans and (thanks to my  organized didn't-know-he-was-so-OCD husband) they're all in binders waiting for the day we start. Right after the move. Don't ask me when.

But I highly recommend checking her curriculum out--cheap, organized, not much fanfare or supplies list. All done by someone who's way more on top of it than me.

Big "theres no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus or for those who haven't 'schooled' their preschooler" hug!
