Warning: excessive nautical metaphors, again ️
Throughout this year, Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide has been on repeat in my mind (and in the car as often as the kids will tolerate it):
Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Well, I've been afraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm getting older too…
A lot has changed since this time last year when Todd’s Navy ship on the other side of the globe had just begun to make their headings home, and the home he’d be returning to was upside down in tearful difficulties and intimidating challenges.
But we’re better for having crossed that sea and come out with new hope on our horizon.
One of the biggest shifts for us was after over a decade of home-educating our kiddos, we shoved them off to the new waters of traditional school. And on the very same day the kids started school, I began my first day in a decade with a traditional 8-to-3 job!
For this and many other changing tides, praise God for Captaining us to these new seas and putting fresh wind in our sails!
Read all about it in our annual family update below and have the happiest Happy Groundhog Day!
